Why are People Standing Still at a Green Light?!

It’s so aggravating!

As a driver, one of my biggest pet peeves is people sitting at green lights. Imagine: you’re on your way to work. You stop at a red light. There is one car in front of you. The light turns green. You’re ready to go and the car ahead is still sitting at the light. Several seconds go by. Cars behind you begin to honk. You honk your horn as well. Finally, the driver in front of you, as if coming out of a daze, speeds off — just as the light turns yellow then red.

Ughhhhhh!!!!

It’s so infuriating! What the hell was that driver thinking? I know we can get lost in thought as we’re waiting for a light to change, but come back from that dimension and drive! People have places to be! Stop holding up traffic! It’s rude!

This issue happens so often, I wonder if some people are color blind. Can you not see the light change from red to green? Should city planners add a sound when the light changes? That may be a solution. Traffic lights do need an upgrade. A loud, buzzing sound may snap people out of their reverie and get them driving.

I know I’m guilty of daydreaming at a stop light. Some intersections have longer wait times than others, so my mind tends to wander while I wait for the light to change. I might be thinking about work, bills, or food…
