When I look at the photo I see myself. I see a woman who is so angry at a system and in a country that wants to destroy each and every one of us. She is heartbroken that her generation has to live under an oppressive system like her parents and grandparents before her. The hatred towards Black and Brown bodies runs deep and long - all they way back to 1619. Every success by a POC is a slap in the face of hatred and racism. We are not supposed to be here - but we are. Racists can't believe that despite everything Black and Brown bodies exists in this country - and our numbers are growing. The woman in the photo cries for all of us.
