Welcome October

A new month. A fresh start.

Fall in full swing.

October is here and I, for one, am glad of it. September was brutal. It was the most brutal September I’ve ever experienced. Back to school meant back to reality and maybe some normality. But it wasn’t that. It was students running amok and teachers exhausted each and every day. II would come home and pass out on the couch.

But now, it’s October. September is now in the past. We can heal from the brutality of the month. We can reflect on what was done in September. We had tests and meetings. We had professional development and online training. We planned our lessons and delivered instruction. We built connections with our students.

In October, I plan to refocus on my personal life. I didn’t do much of that in September. I missed appointments and opportunities. I don’t want that happening this month. I want to stay on top of my writing on this platform as well as my poetry. There are contests for me to enter and submissions to send. I also need to begin the processing of applying to doctoral programs. I’m ready to go back to school.

Yes, let us all use this month to refocus on our goals. We need to build back better our minds and bodies. We need to eat right and exercise. We need to enjoy the fall foliage. Fal is my second favorite season after summer. I love watching the leaves on the trees change color.

So October, please bring us your color, your light, and your energy. As the days grow shorter, allow us to enjoy the sun as much as we can. Give us the strength to make things happen. We need to reach our goals. Life demands it as time continues on.
