Weight Loss Journey
Today is the first day of eating with intention.
I had my annual physical. I needed to check in with my doctor on my overall health.
My main concern is my weight. At my weigh-in, I am currently 213 pounds.
In the past, I would have lamented weighing over 200 pounds. But I was surprisingly relieved.
This was because I hadn’t been as active over the summer. I had done some walking, but not consistently. There were a lot of sedentary moments.
I had envisioned my weight being between 220 and 230 pounds. I had eaten a lot of donuts and ice cream over the summer. I was ready for the worse.
But I happily welcomed 213 pounds. It means that I’m doing something right.
Of course, I want to lose some weight. My goal is to get to and maintain 150 pounds. So now that I know my current weight, I know my starting point.
63 pounds is the goal. I want to first tackle the 13 pounds. I plan to lose that by the end of the month.
How? It won’t be easy. But my plan is to take it day by day.
First off, I have ended my donut fetish. Secondly, to cut way back on ice cream. That will be easy for as the months become colder, I lose my desire to eat ice cream.
Next, increase my water intake. I plan to drink at least three bottles a day to start. One before every main meal.
My next focus will be to eat more fruits and veggies. I have to cut back on carbs. Bread, pasta, and rice will become strangers in my home.
I also need to decrease my sugar intake. Fruity juices and sodas need to be scaled back. I’ll probably cut out soda entirely. When I drink too much soda, my acne acts up.
So far, on day one, I have been pretty good. No soda. No donuts. Drank a couple of bottles of water. Plan to have one more before bed.
In the morning, drink more water and go for a walk. I need to be active. Get the heart pumping and the blood flowing.
I’ll do a follow up post on how it’s going next week.
