Ukraine and Russia — Prelude to a Global Conflict
Are we on the verge of another World War?
I think the United States should prepare to intervene in Ukraine. Putin has lost it. His attitude is to destroy Ukraine, take it over, and move on to the next countries on his list. Yes, Putin has a list. There are other countries around Ukraine that slipped out of Putin’s grasp. He wants those countries back.
The European Union is on edge. Ukraine’s cities are falling one by one. Ukraine has done a more than fair job of holding back the Russian military, but Russia is making more and more gains on Ukrainian land every day. They’ve already captured one city.
The sanctions placed on Russia are hurting the Russian people, but not Putin. He doesn’t care of his people suffer. Putin’s ego won’t allow him to worry about his people. Even the uber-wealthy oligarchs are feeling the sting of the sanctions. They’re losing millions every day. The oligarchs are begging Putin to stop the war in Ukraine. Putin is ignoring their requests.
Putin claims the sanctions are an act of war. Does that mean he plans to attack NATO allies and the European Union next? Will Putin have missiles launched at America’s shores? President Biden is trying to avoid sending U.S. troops into the region. He wants Europe and NATO to handle the situation. Biden will continue to sanction Putin, but military involvement is off the table — for now.
Yet, Americans are feeling the backlash from the conflict. We were already dealing with inflation prior to the war. Now, add on higher gas prices. Several gas stations I saw today had prices from $4.29 to $4.95. I want to add some more gas to my tank but I don’t want to shell out $50 for a few gallons. I have enough gas for a couple more days. After that, I guess I’ll bite the bullet and get some more gas.
If another World War is imminent, America must be prepared. Putin will not stop. He’s ignoring his own cabinet and generals. Putin wants what he wants. Thousands across Russia have been protesting the war and Putin’s response is to lock them up. Dissent will not be tolerated in Putin’s Russia. The people’s voices are being silenced.
The next few days and weeks will reveal which way the war goes. If Ukraine falls, Putin won’t be satisfied. He will try to conquer other countries. In addition, China may start acting up and snatch up countries around it. Taiwan should be worried right about now. Biden needs to do more than sanction Putin. Putin probably has billions of dollars stashed away somewhere. As long as his money is safe, Putin doesn’t care about anything or anyone else. We must stop him, save Ukraine, and the rest of the world.
