The Political Climate Led to this Craziness

I was en route from Ohio to Massachusetts. At the Columbus Airport, I learned of the assassination attempt on Trump. I watched the video from several sources — ABC News, CNN, and NPR. All of them showed the same thing from different angles — Donald Trump had been shot.

At first, many on social media, particularly Instagram, believed it was staged—a hoax, a skit to drum up support for his campaign. Many online scoffed at the way Trump behaved, pumping his fight in the air and mouthing the word “fight” as his Secret Service security team hurried him off the stage.

But soon, the doubters became believers. This shooting hadn't been a skit.

Trump sustained an injury to the upper portion of his right ear. The blood on the side of his head was real. The blood trickling down his cheek to his mouth was real. Trump had been injured. Someone tried to kill him.

The “someone” was a twenty-year-old man who had outwitted the security team and shot at Trump from atop a building 400 feet away. The young man had used a semi-automatic rifle with a scope to zero in on Trump. In addition, the man fired off several shots that killed a spectator and injured two others.

This is wild to me. Trump was in mid-rhetoric when the bullet struck him. In the video, people…
