To Write or Not to Write

That is the question.

April began as a starter pistol. I jumped back into Medium after a lackluster March. I wrote multiple pieces, tripling the previous month’s output. With April also being National Poetry Month, I also gave time to my poetry. I attended an online poetry class, generated new work, and submitted it to contests and conferences.

Now it’s late April, this is my first posting to Medium in over two weeks. I spent the past week enjoying April vacation, recovering from the stress and strain of teaching. Writing on Medium crossed my mind several times, but I always went back to my poems. Poetry just comes easier to me. I can crank out five poems for every essay. I’m on track to post over 4,000 poems by the end of this month.

But I want to write essays. I want to work on my memoir. I want to write fiction. My MG fantasy novel hasn’t been worked on in months. I ran out of steam and how to structure the story. I want to sign up for a fiction writing class or how to start a novel class. But poetry continues to call me — as do other interests.

I spent April vacation working on my drawing skills. I found some new art resources on Pinterest. I’ve been updating my social media pages — TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. I’m also trying to do some freelance writing stuff and make some income. So, I'm juggling a lot of things.

And tomorrow I return to work. Ughhhh.

I have to get it together. Organize. Have a plan of attack. April vacation was supposed to be for all of that and of course, things didn’t go as planned.

I can’t wait for summer.
