The Not-So-Great Debate

Biden vs Trump was a cringe-fest.

I watched about an hour of the first debate between President Biden and former President Trump and had to change the channel. Both men sounded so icky. Biden sounded like he had a cold and looked confused at times. Trump sounded more robust but spewed lies about himself, Biden, January 6th, Charlottesville, and everything else.

Most pundits felt that Trump had won the debate. But I disagree. How can you win an argument if you aren’t telling the truth? Trump didn’t look like a leader; he looked like a liar. Meanwhile, Biden looked every inch of the feeble old man many claim him to be. It was just disheartening.

For days afterward, I have been reading and hearing from many political analysts about Biden’s performance. Yes, his voice sounded raspy during the debate. Yes, he appeared confused at specific points during the discussion. But Biden did make it through two hours of questions and provided straightforward answers to most questions.

Meanwhile, Trump avoided answering specific questions, provided lies to other queries, and babbled about his golf game. Biden told Trump that he “lies like an alley cat.” Alley cats don’t deserve such a comparison with Trump. Trump lies as if his speechwriter was Putin. It was a wonder that Trump made it through the debate without triggering alarms.
