Pre-Summer Weather Grips the East Coast

I was tired of the chilly days and cold rain. I’m tired of the hot, muggy days- and it isn’t even June yet! May 2024 is ending with a heat wave. This wave has gripped the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast for the past few weeks.

I went from wearing sweaters to wearing sun dresses. Thankfully, the switch wasn’t immediate. As the cold, wet Spring eased into pre-summer temperatures, I had time to switch up my outfits to prepare for the temperature change.

As a resident of the Northeast, I’m used to cold Spring. Heck, a few years ago, we had a snowstorm in April! While unusual, it’s always a possibility in New England. Fortunately, there hasn’t been a recent repeat of snow during a Spring month. This past winter, we went nearly snowless. We had a few inches here and there between December and March. But there were more freezing temperatures than snowflakes.

It’s not the heat but the humidity that bothers me. I like a hot day without the mugginess. When it’s muggy, I sweat rivers between my arms and legs. I get all sticky and want to take five showers a day. That’s a lot of water!

I prefer dry heat. When I visited Las Vegas back in the early 2000s, I loved the dry heat. There was no humidity, no mugginess, just dry heat. It was…
