Thank you for your article. I don't agree that Black parents are the blame for their childrens' low literacy rates. We are in a country that has gutted DEI in many settings. erased history from textbooks, and tried to say that slavery was a vocational program for the enslaved! Black parents are often juggling two or three jobs (like me) and are exhausted when they get home. They're doing the best they can to provide for their families. Education is important in the Black community - but its competing with keping a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, and clothes on our backs.
