Summer’s Slow End

Autumn approaches

It’s the last day of August and I’m dreading its end. This has been a nice summer. It felt longer than in years past. I didn’t work outside of the home. I think that made a difference. The days felt longer, more unstructured.

I spent the summer lounging by the community pool, hanging out at the beach, and traveling around the country. I went to Nashville, Tennessee, Atlanta, Georgia, and Pawtucket, Rhode Island. I love to travel. I was tired of COVID’s gloom. My wanderlust was calling to me.

I still want to hit a few more places before 2022 is over. I plan to have at least one adventure every month until the year's end. I don't want to plan anything, but I’m down for whatever.

Autumn is an interesting time of year. The days are shorter. The nights are cooler. The leaves on the trees begin to turn. It’s very beautiful — the yellows, golds, browns, and reds are spectacular. I love the sound of fallen leaves under my feet. The crunch has a rhythmic sound.

Whatever the rest of the year brings, I will embrace it. I have my poetry, my journalism class, and my fiction class. I’m working on my social media presence and trying to build multiple streams of income. I need to put in work. This fall will be busy.
