Stop Blaming Black Single Mothers!
The Hypocrisy has got to End
If the the five Black police officers that brutally beat Tyre Nichols had been White, would White Single Mothers be blamed for their behavior?
I’m sure from most people that would be a resounding no.
So why has the conversation turned from the awful act of brutality perpetrated by five Black men (and at least two white accomplices) to blaming single Black mothers for their actions? It makes no sense!
First and foremost, those who are blaming Black single mothers are assuming that the five police officers were all raised by Black single mothers.
Secondly, it is assumed that these five police officers did not have a father figure in their lives, especially during their most formative years.
Third, it is overlooked as to how and why these five police officers decided to become officers in the first place. Surely, someone mentored and guided each of these men into the police force. And I’m sure that would have been a family member who was already in the force.
What’s makes this situation even worse is that the blame on Black sinhgle mothers is coming from Black men. One man in particular is leading the chorus against Black women — Jason Whitlock.
Mr. Whitlock was on Fox News with Tucker Carlson spewing all kinds of nonsense about how the Tyre Nichols execution would not have happened if the men weren’t raised by Black single mothers.
Of course, Tucker Carlson sat there eating it up like a five-course meal.
Meanwhile, the rest of us Black folks watched with mouths agape. We were shaking our heads at Whitlock’s nonsense. This soon turned to anger.
How dare Whitlock (and others) coddle to White people to gain their favor. Black people have seen this behavior since the enslavement period. Black slaves would gain special privileges from their White masters by keeping slaves in line and informing their masters if the other slaves planned to escape or revolt.
Unfortunately, in 2023, we still have Blacks who would rather betray their own to gain privileges from white supremacy. Mr. Whitlock is one of those people.
It’s sad that Black single mothers are made the scapegoats for a tragic situation. Tyre Nichols didn’t die because of Black single mothers. He died because of a system that sees the Black body as a threat. Nichols is dead because five Black officers sacrificed their Blackness to uphold the Blue code.
When will it end?
