Stephen A. Smith Needs to Take Several Seats
“You Better Not Speak on Serena!”
As Black America basks in the afterglow of Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance, one Black American is on the haterade train. MAGA was lambasting KDot’s performance, critiquing everything from the lyrics to SZA’s performance and Samuel L. Jackson’s “Uncle Sam.” But Stephen A. Smith, noted sports commentator, focused on Serena Williams who made a guest appearance at the show, crip walking near the main stage.
Williams had crip walked before a few years back when she was playing at Wimbledon and had won her match. The judges, the British public, and white America had been appalled by her celebratory dance and Williams was fined. Fast forward to 2025 and Williams hadn’t lost a step.
I was elated to see Williams participate in the event. I was even more elated to see her crip walk routine. Williams, who had her second child in 2024, was in back in playing shape. She had on a purple and white tennis ensemble. Her white tee was cropped displaying toned abs. Her legs were muscular and shapely as she bopped to Kendrick’s beat. Serena looked like she was ready to play at Wimbledon once again.
