August is over. September 1st is here. Labor Day on September 2nd.

Summer is not over. We still have about three weeks left. September is a transitional month, which means that there’s a lot of movement during the month. College students return to campus, school kids haul backpacks and lunch boxes while waiting for the bus or walking to school, and retailers are selling their wares at steep discounts. Our wallets could use the break.

Let’s learn more about September:

September has many national observances, including:

  • National Suicide Prevention Month: A month to raise awareness about suicide prevention
  • National Preparedness Month: A month to prepare for disasters and build resilience
  • National Courtesy Month: A month to practice manners and respect
  • National Americana Month: A month to reflect on what makes us Americans
  • National Italian Cheese Month: A month to celebrate Italian cheese
  • National Self-Care Awareness Month: A month to focus on self-care
