Part I of My Take on. the Fashion at the Oscars

Fashion is the star at the Oscars and the 2024 Oscars did not disappoint. There were gowns and tuxes. There were sequins and satin. There were glitter and feathers. And there were lots of colors on display.

As a fashionphile who loves fashion, I [appreciate the colors on display. Of course, some black and white outfits looked lovely. Gabrielle Union had a black and white off-shoulder number that looked very chic. Billie Eilish wore an oversized black and white outfit as she sang “What Was I Made For,” which won an Oscar. All of the vocal performances were epic and brought me to life.

Ryan Gosling came out to perform “I’m Just Ken” wearing a hot pink sequined suit and the backup dancers all worse tuxes with hot pink sashes. Lupita Nyongo glowed in a blue sequined gown covered in glitter on her hair and skin. Ariana Grande wore a pink, puffy gown that looked like cotton candy or a parachute. Melissa McCarthy wore a fushia and red gown that didn’t loo good as a color combination. I’ll discuss the fashion more in my “Wear it or Trash it” segment.

Overall, I enjoyed watching the celebrities walk the red carpet. In a real treat, I saw Regina King in an all-red ensemble appear for the photogs. King looked gorgeous in her outfit and smiled brightly for the cameras. I was happy to see her since she has been out of the spotlight for over the year following the untimely passing of her son. As a mother, I can understand the pain she continues to endure as she re-enters the spotlight.

The Oscars is a time to watch celebrities and marvel at their outfits. The gowns and tuxes delight the eye and bring smiles to everyone. The ceremony is the biggest of the awards season. After so many award shows, the Oscars is the capstone. The fashion performances we’ve all been waiting for.
