Open Letter to Vice President Kamala Harris
I Still Believe in You
Dear Vice President Kamala Harris,
You ran a historic campaign. We were all shocked and saddened by the election results. You had electrified so many people with the promise of a better tomorrow. “We are not going back” was your slogan. Those of us who agreed with that slogan voted for you. Take heart, there were many of us.
But there weren’t enough.
Too many people voted to go back. Too many people voted for a man over a woman. Too many people voted for a white man over a Black woman. Too many people stayed home on election day.
Those people let you down. Those people chose fear over a future, hatred over happiness, and racism over reason.
It was not your fault. I don’t care what the critics and pundits say. You made many of us believers of a future where America could be the democracy it should be—a democracy where equality, diversity, and tolerance were the laws of the land—a democracy where love was the leader.
I’m so sorry you didn’t win. I voted for you, my son voted for you, my family and friends voted for you, and many people voted for you. I don’t know how Trump won the popular vote. I feel some shenanigans were going on. He is a vile man. Trump is racist and selfish. He will once again…
