Celebrating An Act of Resistance

PPhoto Source; Black Wall Street Journal

One year ago today, the country and the world saw what happens when Black people stand up against injustice.

When white men assaulted a Black River Boat Captain, the Black people took action.

They ran down the gangplank, tried to act as mediators, recorded the fights, swung chairs, pushed people away, pushed people into the water, jumped off boats, and swam towards the battle.

It was a beautiful sight to see.

Black people will commemorate August 5, 2023, as the day we weren’t taking any more crap from entitled white people. They started the fight, and we finished it.

This is a message to anyone who would attack a Black person for just doing their job. Black people will come to their aid, and we will fight back. Don’t think we’re afraid. From the video, our numbers grew with each passing minute.

Our ancestors were proud.
