Department of Education Requires Teachers to Teach the Bible

I don’t know why states disregard the Constitution, which clearly states the separation of church and state. In the latest violation of the Constitution, Oklahoma’s Department of Education has mandated that all teachers in Oklahoma’s public schools must teach the Bible.

Now, I’m not against the teaching of the Bible, but that should happen within the church, like at Sunday School. My issue is that Oklahoma has a diverse student population, just like most public schools. In addition, the public school staff are also a diverse body of educators. What if the teaching of the Bible is against their religion?

Why don’t families have a say in whether the Bible should be taught in public schools? If the family isn’t religious or of a different religion, isn’t this mandate a violation of their rights as citizens? The Oklahoma Department of Education is overstepping its authority. They’re crossing a line that will impact thousands of students in their state.
