My Take: Throw Trump in Jail!
The man can’t continue to roam freely
Trump flew into New York City on his private plane. He went to Manhattan District Court and sat solemnly as 34 charges were read. These charges, if Trump is convicted, could lead to over 130+ years in prison. After the arraignment, Trump left the courtroom, returned to his plane, and flew back to his resort in Florida.
Trump should have been brought to a prison cell.
Hours later, Trump who had been silent during the court proceedings, railed against the Manhattan DA and those who support his indictment. Trump is delusional. The man needs medicine! He believes that he is the victim of political persecution. And while many people in the Democratic party dislike, even hate Trump, what’s happening to him isn’t political.
Trump broke the law. And he’s still facing charges in Georgia. the classified document scandal at Maralargo, and sexual assault charges from several women. Trump’s affair with porn star Stormy Daniels was the crack in the dam that flooded Trump’s world.
Trump is not above the law. It doesn’t matter he was the former President of the United States. The law is the law. Trump, his family ties, and his political standing doesn’t matter. He broke the law.
Of course, Trump doesn't see it that way. He’s trying to rally his base to protect against this alleged injustice. Since being arraigned last Tuesday, Trump did see a $4 million dollar increase in his 2024 presidential campaign fund. Apparently, Trump still has many supporters/
But it was reported on Good Morning America and Face the Nation that 50% of Americans feel that Trump has committed a crime. That percentage may not bode well down the stretch for Trump. While Biden has a low approval and reelection percentage, he still has the advantage of a strong job market, pushing for student debt removal, and trying to lower food and fuel costs.
However, the average American (namely me) still struggle with high costs, so Biden needs to work harder on lower prices at the pump and the supermarket. Nevertheless, Biden still has my vote. Trump and any other like-minded candidate are a danger to democracy. The United States is already crumbling from MAGA extremists, white supremacists, fascist governors, and racist laws. America needs a leader that will bring the country apart — not divide it even further.
Trump can definitely be counted on to destroy democracy.
