My First Fashion Week Experience
New York Fashion Week had it all and then some
After unexpectedly being sidelined by my job, I had the opportunity to go to New York for New York Fashion Week. I hastily made plans to hop on the Peter Pan bus and take the four-hour drive from Boston to New York. I managed to secure a hotel for the weekend in Soho which was the epicenter for this year’s fashion week. I could only afford four days and three nights but it was enough to partake in some fashion week activities.
New York Fashion Week began on Thursday, September 7th, and ended on Wednesday, September 13th. I arrived in the middle of the action. I checked in at. the Four Points Sheraton in Soho. A pricey hotel in between Spring Street Station and Prince Street Station — the heart of Soho’s fashion district.
My hotel room was on the 5th floor. The staff was friendly and allowed me to check in early (check-in time was 3 p.m.). I was thankful since my luggage was heavy and I needed to freshen up before heading out. I went to my room which was a good size with a nice bathroom. I packed some of my things in the closet and changed into my afternoon outfit.
I headed out to explore Soho. I walked around Spring and Prince Streets. I picked up some snacks from a CVS next to Spring Street Station. The hotel provided free bottles of water which saved me from buying drinks. On Pince Street, there were a couple of street vendors. The man sold dupe sunglasses of various colors for $10 each.
