Monster High 2 — The Fashion

I’ve been a fan of the Monster High franchise since it was a collection of movies almost fifteen years ago. The Monster High cartoons featured the monsters we know now — Frankie Stein, Draculaura, and Clawdeen Wolf. In retrospect, the Monster High cartoons were better than what’s on television today. They were more nuanced and emotionally grounded as teen monsters navigated school, their powers, and their hormones.

But I do enjoy the latest entries in the Monster High franchise. In 2022, Nick Studios did a reboot of Monster High with a live-action movie. This was a nod towards past movies and shows. Fortunately, the three main characters — Clawdeen Wolkf, Draculaura, and Frankie Stein were still the focus of the first and second films.

The fashion in Monster High and Monster High 2 does not disappoint, The teen monsters dress like human teens. They wear sneakers, jeans, and dresses. It’s just the outfits are a bit more exaggerated for the monsters. The sneakers are larger to accommodate bigger feet (or hooves), the jeans are ripped with blood stains, and the dresses are more dramatic and colorful.

Draculaura’s fashion hasn’t changed since the first movie. If anything, her gowns seem more couture. Draculaura wears a lot of dresses — black dresses. The dresses have intricate details like beading and cutouts along the neckline. Draculaura isn’t big on color with the exception of her…
