March is Here!
The Countdown to Spring has begun
Yes! March has arrived and it is welcomed with open arms. For many states, March marks the tail end of winter. , Some states need a break from the season. Winter has been brutal for many states (looking at you, California) with high winds, extreme cold, and several feet of snow. In other states, the winter has brought high winds and torrential rain, so there have been problems with flooding (looking at you, Texas).
I live in Massachusetts and my city, the winter has been a mix of wind, rain, and snow. Fortunately, when it snowed, there wasn’t a lot on the ground. The school district has had only one snow day (and we didn’t get more than a couple of inches of snow). I’m not complaining. I remember past winters when schools had to shut down for days because the city was under a foot of snow. Thanks in part to global warming and climate change, the winters in my city have been milder every year.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. With March here, I know I need to head to Home Depot or Loews to get mulch, fertilizer, and soil. Four years ago, during the pandemic, I decided to take up gardening. I love flowers and felt that with the lockdown now was as good a time as any to begin my garden. So every March I begin the process anew by examining my planters, checking my seeds, and cleaning off my back porch to prepare for planting.
