Why did the teen bring an AR-15 to a protest?

Three men were shot. Two were killed. The men were shot by a teen, Kyle Rittenhouse back in 2020 during the Jacob Blake protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Blake was the victim of police brutality, He was shot by an officer and now sits in a wheelchair. Protests erupted across Kenosha and Rittenhouse came to Kenosha, claiming to “protect property.” Now Rittenhouse is on trial and it may end in his favor.

Regardless of the trial’s outcome, this young man shot and killed two men, injuring the third. The third man, Gaige Grosskreutz, testified at the trial. He was the sole survivor of Rittenhouse’s shooting spree. He was shot in the arm by Rittenhouse. Grosskreutz shared his side of the ordeal and Rittenhouse’s actions. Some legal analysts speculate that Grosskreutz’s testimony may have helped Rittenhouse’s case.

Rittenhouse took the stand on Wednesday, November 10th. He answered questions from both the prosecution and the defense. Then, at one point during questioning, Rittenhouse broke down on the stand. He was seen choking back tears and making sobbing noises. Many speculate that the tears were fake. Regardless, the scene was quite dramatic.

White privilege is on the stand. A young man, Rittenhouse, with a baby face claims he was defending himself. Rittenhouse felt that the men were a threat to his life. Grosskreutz stated that “Rittenhouse was an active shooter who murdered two men and tried to murder him.” I believe Grosskreutz.

We will see where all the drama and theatrics will lead us. This trial is being closely watched. If Rittenhouse is acquitted, white privilege wins. It may also spark more protests in Kenosha. Speaking of which, what about Jacob Blake? Rittenhouse didn’t come to Kenosha to support Blake. Blake is the one that needs our support as he navigates his life in a wheelchair. Blake deserves justice and Rittenhouse deserves jail.
