Kevin Samuels is Problematic

He doesn’t uplift Black Women

I’ve been watching Kevin Samuels on YouTube for a while now. I’veviewed curated segments of his most savage moments, listened to him interview Black men and women, and offer advice to those that call into his show. Samuels, 51, is an attractive Black man who owns an image consulting business. His clientele is high-earners: VPs, CEOs, CIOs. etc. Samuels works with this clientele and others to improve their image.

After watching some of Samuels’ segments, I can honestly say that I’m disgusted by the way he speaks to Black women. In one segment, he called a woman a” big, Black bitch.” In another segment, he told a Black woman that she was “average-looking” and should only focus on dating an “average guy.” Samuels told the woman that high-earning men don’t want her — she’s too old (35), has a child (13 yo son), and a baby daddy. Despite the woman’s success as a business owner, Samuels ripped her self-esteem to shreds.

My question for Samuels is this — What image are you upholding for your clientele? The white beauty standards? It would appear that any Black woman that argues or disagrees with Samuels immediately gets lumped into the “that’s what’s wrong with you Black women,” category. Does Samuels hate Black women? Based on what I’ve seen, I would say yes.

Samuels is doing the work of white supremacy. Racist rhetoric is in every video. Samuels judges the women on their appearance, age, and weight. He mocks their education (or lack thereof) and accomplishments. He’s not uplifting these Black women. Samuels leaves these women angry and in tears. His advice is cruel and mean-spirited. Samuels yells at the women, call them names, and insults them at every point in the conversation. If they really get on his nerves, he hangs up the phone on them. How are you “helping” these women?

It’s really sad to see a Black man disrespecting Black women. What happened to “respect and protect our Black Queens?” Samuels is not engaging in acts of respect or protection. Yet, he has over a million subscribers on Youtube. I’m sure his other social media is full of followers as well. People enjoy watching Black people tear into each other. It’s sick and degrading.

I don’t know when Samuels lost his way. There is no honor in his actions. Samuels is Black in skin color only. He has forgotten his ancestors. He has forgotten the struggles Black people go through on a daily basis. No amount of money will make white people respect us. They will use us and then discard us the first chance they get. Samuels’ treatment of Black women will bring him some bad karma. I’m sure he’ll blame Black women for that, too.
