In the final move of the Kendrick vs. Drake beef, Lamar brought out his Compton—Oakland peeps to celebrate and serenade the masses.
It was an artistic and musical spectacle that awed viewers and reminded Drake to leave Kendrick alone.
Everything from the opening door knock to the ending with the owl was a sight to behold. Kendrick even brought out his family to end Drake’s accusation of domestic violence. The family, including his fiancee and their children, danced for the cameras and posed like the modern American family.
The fashion was also top-tier. Lamar sported a two-piece white tracksuit, a suit jacket, and a cargo jacket with jorts. Sneakers were definitely on the menu. This was not a gala affair. This was a celebration with soul.
I appreciate the video's imagery, especially the snapshots of the large crowds singing the chorus of “Not Like Us.” Lamar employed hundreds from the community to share in his victory. This video is a lap around the track after the runner won gold and broke a world record.
Lamar stands at the top of the podium. He made a visual of his victory. Drake would be in second place. Who would be the runner-up if I said he was in third place? Beyonce? Probably.
