Kamala Begins Her Campaign
Her Candidacy Making History Several Times Over
July continues to be a month of mayhem. From Supreme Court rulings to assassination attempts to unrest overseas, a president bowing out of the race, and a vice president becoming the Democratic Nominee for President.
Kamala Harris has two roles — Vice President of the United States and Presidential Candidate. President Biden, placing the party over his desires, stepped aside to allow Harris to take over the campaign.
Since Biden’s announcement on Sunday, July 21st, and subsequent endorsement of Harris to run in his place, social media exploded. The country went into a frenzy. Both sides of the aisle, Democrats and Republicans, either cheered Biden’s decision or panicked over Harris’ candidacy.
Social Media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook were all tizzy over Harris’ candidacy. The DNC (Democratic National Convention) called a Zoom meeting with several leading Black women in various fields. Initially, the meeting was only for a thousand people. However, word of the meeting spread, and Zoom’s CEO opened up space, and over 44,000 Black women joined. The discussion lasted four hours and raised thousands of dollars for Harris’ campaign.
