The Ongoing Tragedy in Gaza is Heartbreaking and Inhumane

I’ve been listening and reading the comments on CNN and Newsbreak as well as on Instagram and Facebook. Everyone seems to have an opinion since Hama staged a surprise attack on Israel on October 7th. The attack began at a music festival where over several hundred Israeli citizens were injured and/or killed by Hamas soldiers. In addition, Hamas attacked Israeli settlements that bordered Gaza and continued to shoot and kill Israeli citizens. Over 200 Israeli citizens and Americans were captured and taken away by Hamas. After the initial attack, 1,500 Israelis were killed by Hamas.

Of course, Israel retaliated which was its right to do so. Launching a barrage of missiles, Israel pummeled the Gaza Strip targeting alleged Hamas hideouts. As of this writing, Israel is planning to do a ground invasion into Gaza. The invasion is on hold due to the tremendous need for humanitarian aid by the Palestinian people. In addition, many countries around the world want Israel to wait until Palestinians have relocated their injured, elderly, and children.

So, here is my two cents on the war — it needs to end. Yes, what Hamas did was atrocious and they need to stand trial — or be killed. Israel definitely has a right to feel the need to get its lick back. But should it be at the expense of the over 2 million Palestinian citizens?
