Hotel Review — Hilton Atlanta
A Review of My Hotel Stay
My first time staying in Atlanta and experience in the downtown area was enhanced by Hilton Atlanta.
Located on 255 Courtland St NE section of Atlanta, Hilton Atlanta stands 30-stories in height. My room was located on the 14th floor. It was a standard room with two beds. My room had a nice view of the highway and the green woods beyond the city.
I arrived at the Hilton Atlanta at 11 in the evening after an exhaustingly long flight on Southwest Airlines. I went straight to the check-in desk, gave my name, and was greeted by a polite and friendly counter rep. He confirmed my stay, charged my card, and provided my room key. In addition, he gave me two free bottles of water which was definitely a plus for me.
Entry to my room required tapping my key against a pad. A traditional bolt and lock were on the inside of the door. The room was cool when I entered, but not cold. The AC wasn’t cranked up to the Ice Age levels.
There was a large flat screen tv, a desk with a lamp, and a comfortable chair. There were plenty of outlets that allowed me to plug in my various devices. The tv had plenty of channels for me to watch in between my conference activities.
I placed my things on the bed closest to the window and survived the evening sky. Since I was tired, I decided to get ready for bed and then begin the morning by laying out my clothes and toiletries.
The room was top-notch. The bathroom was large and well-lit. A huge mirror was on one side with a tub and shower on the other. The shower was a welcomed blessing and there were no pressure issues. In the bathroom were plenty of washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels. In addition, there were standard hotel toiletries like soap, shampoo, and a shower cap.
The Hilton Atlanta is quite large inside and connected to two other major hotels — the Marriott Marquis and the Hyatt, The connection is via a bridge that allows me to travel unhindered through each hotel. The bridge also connects to The Hub, an indoor food court and shopping area. From there, travelers can also use the MARTA, Atlanta’s transit system, to travel around the city, the suburbs, and the airport.
Other amenities within the hotel were concierge services, a security desk, a mailing center, and a marketplace. There was also a restaurant and a bar. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and roomy.
My only issues were on Saturday night, as people were heading out for the evening, the elevators were overwhelmed with guests and slowed down considerably, People waited several minutes to go up and down floors. That wasn’t a good look for the hotel.
Another issue was the lack of a pool, either indoors or outside. I was surprised that the Hilton, a major hotel chain, wouldn’t have a pool in its facility. The other hotels in the area did have pools. With so many conference rooms in the hotel, I don’t see why space couldn’t be made for a pool or sauna area.
Overall, I give the Hilton Atlanta four out of five thumbs up.
