We are Halfway through 2024

May is over. It’s been quite a month. I started a new side hustle and got paid for it. My Medium earnings went up, and so did my readership. I’ve had several interviews for summer and fall positions with mixed results. I’ve had to pay bills I didn’t expect to pay.

But now it’s June. As I type this, it's Saturday night. I just arrived home after an afternoon of shopping and watching MMA. My BFF made me a cake, which I enjoyed. She gave me a sweater from the Target x Jenee Naylor collection and a black credenza, which I will use.

Today’s weather was hot and sunny—the perfect way to start the month. My birthday is in a few days, and I can’t wait to celebrate. The weather has been forecast as sunny and warm for most of the week. I always love it when the weather is nice on my birthday. It’s like a present from Mother Nature.

June is also the month of my mother’s passing. It will be seven years on June 6th. I still can’t believe it’s been seven years. I know my mother is gone, but the ache of her death still hurts. It’s been a rough seven years.

My mental health has taken a beating since my mother left this world. I’ve been on a rollercoaster of emotions with far too many downs. Some good things have happened to keep me going, like winning my first poetry prize, attending writing conferences, and…
