Gun Control Now!

Enough is enough

How many people must be hurt or killed by AR-15s? These weapons are meant for the battlefield — not for school buildings. An AR-15 can tear flesh into sushi. Survival is slim to none. Anyone using such a weapon needs their mental health checked and their ID stored for reference.

Gun makers need to stop placing profit before people. The six victims in Nashville, TN were killed by an AR-15. The shooter had left a message to a friend informing the person that they were prepared to die. The shooter had mapped out the school, a private Catholic school. The person entered the building by shooting through two locked glass doors. Once inside, the slaughter began.

Gun reform is needed and it’s needed now. It should have happened when we had Columbine in the late 1990s. It should have happened at the concert in Las Vegas, the Pulse Nightclub, Sandy Hook, and Parkland high school. Gun reform could have saved so many lives and prevented so much pain and anguish.

Thoughts and prayers are not enough. They were never enough. You can’t pray away the violence. You must face it head-on. To do so begins in the home. Gun owners need to be responsible for their weapons so they don’t fall into the hands of children. Gun shops need to do thorough background checks on gun buyers. Mental health resources must be available in communities, hospitals, and schools.

If more money is put towards mental health, we might be able to decrease the number of mass shootings in this country. The United States is probably one of the most violent countries in the world. We are a threat to our very existence. We worry more about banning books and censoring drag queens than we do about children dying by a gun.

What will it take for America to do better?
