For Simone Biles — A Poem

--

To the greatest gymnast ever

The G.O.A.T.

The arc of your swing

cuts the air at an angle,

slicing through gravity

as if it doesn’t exist.

You’re suspended in the air,

grabbing the edges of space.

You soar, lifting like a rocket

breaking barriers with your golden form.

Your bright eyes, your wide smile,

captivating all those who watch

you somersault & kickflip across

the mat, speeding up into a quadruple tumble,

landing flat on your feet, arms up

in victory.
