New Year’s Resolutions can be Restarted

It’s almost the end of February and your New Year’s Resolutions have been tossed aside. You’re feeling guilty and panicking that you’re wasting another year. Don’t panic! And the guilt is normal. We always like to beat ourselves up when we don’t keep our promises to ourselves. It’s called being human.

You didn’t let yourself down.

Let go of the guilt.

Remind yourself that you're doing the best you can.

Remember that it’s only February and you have time to start over.

Here are five (5) ways to get back on track with your resolutions:

  1. Prioritize your goals

What are you trying to accomplish in the next 30, 60, or 90 days?

2. Focus on one goal at a time

Once you’ve selected the priority, only work on that goal.

3. Break the goal down into smaller tasks or steps

For example, if you want to lose weight, determine the amount you want to lose and then how you want to lose the weight. Ex, walking, aerobic exercise, weights, and/or change in eating habits

4. Do one task at a time

Don’t look at all the tasks or steps at once. You will become overwhelmed.

Start with the first task and work on it for at least a week.

5. Celebrate the small wins

When you’ve completed a task, celebrate. You accomplished the first step in reaching your goal.

Repeat steps 1–4 and you will see progress in no time.

Good luck!
