How to Look Stylish While You Search for a New Job
I was a teacher for 21 years. My teaching career ended in September 2023. I did not want it to end. But I was forced into a corner and had to make a hard choice. Now, unemployed, I try to put back the pieces of my life and forge ahead.
But it’s hard. Why? Because I’m in a territory I haven't been in over 25 years. I’ve been working steadily since the mid-90s. Over the years, I’ve worked full-time, part-time, and attended school — all at the same time! My life was constantly on the go from one job to another or from one class to the next. It was all about work and school, school and work.
In addition, I purchased my first home, got married, and started a family. i continued to work full-time, part-time, and attend school. Once, my oldest child went with me as I attended a class at Simmons School of Management. He was just a couple of months old and sat there in his car seat mesmerized by the professor.
Now, my oldest is in college, and the rest are navigating their way through middle and high school. So I’m paying for college and have to prepare for future college enrollments. I’m hoping my kids will get scholarships, so that means staying on top of their grades. My days are still busy, but I miss my work routine.
I get up each day and get dressed. I have a ton of clothes and with Fall in full swing, I need to break out the sweaters and jackets. I try to stay dressed in case I need to go to an interview or run errands. I…
