Writing quality essays takes time

Let the ideas marinate

My stats are dwindling and I’m not panicking. I have so much on my plate that my downward spiral on Medium is the least of my worries. It does bother me. But I remember that I started with no views and only a handful of followers when I started to be more active on the platform. As of today, I have over 150 followers and close to a total of 1800 views.

I can get my numbers back up again. I’m sure of it. I just needed to get my ideas together. Plus, poetry was calling me and I wanted to focus on that genre. I’ve been doing other things on Medium — reading articles, looking for freelance writing opportunities, and responding to people’s comments. I think that’s helping me to grow my following. So a decline in stats isn’t a total loss.

This is my first piece in two days. I know I’m supposed to write at least an essay a day. But I don’t want to write crap. I’ve read some crappy pieces on Medium. The person got a lot of views for the piece and has a lot of followers, but their essay is full of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. My essays aren’t perfect, but I want to present the best work possible.

Also, it’s good to take a break from writing and focus on other things. I don’t want to obsess over my stats. I don’t want to post crappy essays. I do want to increase my following. I do want to provide readers with enjoyable content. My readers deserve the best from me. I want to provide that on this platform.

I have a few ideas that have been mulling over. I’ll start posting my essays beginning this weekend. I want to do my research before writing my pieces. It’s best to be organized so you’re not writing off the cuff. The essay writing mojo has returned!
