These Creators are Doing Big Things on Tik Tok

As February draws to a close, I knew I was behind in doing an article that needed to be written. But I have to be honest, I didn’t know how to start the piece. I was stuck and usually, when I’m stuck I procrastinate until it’s too late to do the work. I didn’t want to procrastinate this time. It wouldn’t be fair to the people who reached out to me and shared a piece of themselves with me.

So here are my TOP 16 Black Creators on Tik Tok: (in no particular order):

  1. @theluncheonlawyer
  2. @therealdoubledeemuva
  3. @themarisaazimmernan1
  4. @raquelmartinphd
  5. @the_one_da_select
  6. @Quentin Jiles
  7. @thewokemama
  8. @blueprintdiy
  9. @uncle.damn
  10. @snackbandits
  11. @mndiaye_97
  12. @mystylefile
  13. @zactivist
  14. @ispeak1906
  15. @thereallord_timothais
  16. @theconsciouslee

These Black creators have thousands if not millions of followers and provide fashion, social commentary, and creativity on TikTok. From informing followers of racial injustice to showcasing their businesses, these creators provide followers with a wealth of information.

I love following these creators (and many others) who work hard to provide clear, concise news and information. It is evident in the quality of their work. Their videos are presented well with details and links so that viewers can do their own research.

The following is a creator I wish to spotlight. She inspires me with not only her business success but her personal success. Her company also deserves your attention. She was kind enough to provide some background about herself and her company on Tik Tok:

Southern Elegance Interview: (@dshawnrceo)

How long have you been creating on Tik Tok? I have been on TikTok for about a year.

2. What other Black creators have you connected with on Tik Tok? @juicybodygoddess @spilling_the_sweet_tea @naturalannieessentials @charlyndajean

3. Who are you and what is your business and/or passion? I am D’Shawn Russell and I am the owner of Southern Elegance Candle Company. We sell southern-inspired home fragrance products: Candles, Room & Linen Spray, Diffuser with Reeds, and Jumbo Wax Melt. All our fragrances are based on southern agriculture and celebrate faith, family, and community.

4. What do you want readers to know about your business and/or passion?. We all experience difficulties and adversity… but we can overcome it and live our best life at any age.

5. How can readers learn more about your products or services? They can visit our website and explore all our product offerings: www.secandleco.com

6. What can Tik Tok do to better support your work/content/business?. Tiktok actually has done a really good job of providing training and supporting Black businesses. We have participated in several incubators to help grow the business on the platform.

7. Which Black person inspires you? My great-grandmother has always been my inspiration. She was a Pentecostal holiness minister and started churches all over North Carolina. She managed to build and pastor churches during a time when women were not allowed in the pulpit and not allowed to own land in their name.

Please check out these creators and I will highlight more creators in future pieces. It’s important that everyone know who these creators are and what they do on Tik Tok.
