Desantis: Not the President We Need

Desantis is a dictator wanna-be who would destroy America’s Democracy

Florida is a mess and it has its governor, Ron Desantis, to thank.

When Floridians elected Desantis governor, I don’t think they realized the depths of their mistake.

But they do mow.

Desantis has turned the sunshine state into his own kingdom where he is the supreme leader.

Democracy has died in Florida.

Desantis passed the “Stop Woke” legislation, placing schools and teachers in jeopardy.

He banned AP African American Studies from Florida’s high schools. This led the College Board to revise the curriculum and present a watered-down version for Desantis’ approval.

School libraries have been gutted. Their books are covered up. Books have to be approved by a media specialist. Many books were already banned in Florida and in most states across the South.

Teachers can’t discuss anything related to race, racism, slavery, or America’s pattern of violence against Black, Brown, and Indigenous people.

Gender and sexuality discussions are banned as well.

And now as we head towards the next presidential election in 2024, Desantis is considering a run for the Oval Office.

We, the American people, cannot allow Desantis to become President of the United States. Not unless we want the entire country to go the way of Florida.

Desantis has shown time and time again that he is racist, unsupportive of gender and sexuality, and ill-prepared to handle a crisis like COVID-19 and all its variants.

Desantis, like most Republicans, desires to pander to a base that wants this country to go back to 1953. The rights of women and people of color are in danger. Education and the principles of learning are in danger. All the gains made in this country through laws and legislation are in danger.

Democracy is in danger.

Under Trump, Democracy suffered a major hit. If Trump had won reelection, Democracy would not have survived another onslaught.

Democracy is in recovery under Biden. If Biden (or whoever decides to run in his stead) isn’t reelected. Democracy will not survive.

We might as well become the Russian States of America. Trump loves Putin and I’m sure Desantis would be more than willing to give Europe to Russia if it will help him.

Voting is the only way to prevent this possibility. Everyone must vote. Every vote counts. Every vote matters.

America is at the ballot box. Democracy is on the line.
