Colbert and Kimmel are the latest victims in an increasingly repressive regime.
Jimmy Kimmel, a popular late-night television host, has been suspended by ABC due to recent comments he made about the late Charlie Kirk. Kimmel, known for his comedic skills and honest perspectives, had his show pulled on Wednesday by ABC brass. Apparently the FCC, led by one of Trump’s appointees, threatened to pull ABC’s license if they didn’t do something about Kimmel.
Trump approved of Kimmel’s suspension, calling him “talentless.”
Like Trump is an “expert” on talent.
Kimmel joins Stephen Colbert, whose show was pulled earlier this year for his comments about the Trump administration. Last year, ABC had to settle a lawsuit filed by Trump when George Stephanopoulos made on-air comments about Trump’s actions. Stephanopoulos wasn’t removed from Good Morning America, a popular daytime news and entertainment program. However, his comments about Trump and his administration have definitely been reigned in.
Colbert and Kimmel are immensely popular on-air personalities, and their absence is a blow to late-night television. Additionally, it is a blow to free speech and the press.
