Bow to the Goddesses
Black women are the epitome of beauty.

I’m tired of seeing articles on Medium defending the beauty of Black women. There’s no defense! Black women are the most gorgeous women on the planet. Period!
Yes. Every culture has its share of beautiful women. But there’s something about Black beauty that stands above the rest. Maybe it's the way our melanin glows in the sun or when we smile the stars need to put on shades. We come in many hues like a box full of chocolates — you never know what you’ll get. Or maybe it’s our hair — our coiled, fine, kinky, and sleek tresses that caress our cheeks, cradle our necks and curve down our backs.
Whatever it is, Black women are supported by history. The Egyptian goddesses were Black women, dark-skinned divas, wielding immense power. The first human life began in Africa with the bones of Lucy and you know she was Black. White people just don’t want to accept that their origins began on a continent that they tried to destroy. And their skin color is a result of a melanin deficiency, an aberration, a defective gene.
When I see a Black woman grace a magazine cover— it gets my attention. It’s not the outfit she’s wearing, it’s her. Her hue dominates the cover. When it’s a white woman, she gets lost on the page. Lost in a myriad of other drab magazine covers. Hold up a copy of Essence magazine and a copy of Vogue magazine and you’ll see what I mean.
White women need to stop hating on us. It’s not Black women’s fault that when we turn 50 we look 25 and when a white woman turns 50 she looks 70. Our melanin blesses us with youthful longevity. Look at the supermodel Naomi Campbell. She’s in her 50s and stills looks like she’s in her 30s. It’s the melanin.
Black women are the standard of beauty and the industry needs to acknowledge that fact. Black women make everything look better whether it's makeup, accessories, clothing, or shoes. When we strut down the street, we are the statement. Black beauty is a whole mood, an entire vibe, and where everyone else wants to be.
So white women spend less time laying on the beach, soaking up sun rays, and doing more to protect their skin. Stop letting men stress you out and take their crap. Laugh more. Love more. Travel more. Find your joy. Your jealousy and racism haven’t stopped Black beauty since our ancestors were brought to this country in 1619 and it’s not going to stop it now. Move or be moved.
