Meghan Thee Stallion’s case against Tory Lanez Proves That

Meghan Thee Stallion’s harrowing journey to justice is over. For the past two years, Meghan has endured criticism and insults from trolls within the Hip Hop community. People went from believing her story of being shot in the feet by Lanez to saying she had made the story up. Even I, at one point, doubted Meghan’s story. But I was wrong.

Tory Lanez was found guilty on all three counts by a jury on Friday, December 23rd. Lanez was placed in handcuffs once the verdict was delivered by the jury. He will be in custody until his sentencing hearing. Lanez faces over twenty years in prison.

Meghan’s attorneys delivered evidence after evidence that supported her story. While Lanez’s defense team tried to use the relationship between Meghan and Tory as a reason for her lies. Meghan’s former friend, Kelsie was even brought in to cast doubt on Meghan’s story. Despite the twists and turns in the proceedings, Meghan came out victorious.

Black women matter. Their stories matter. Crimes against them matter, Black women are tired of being victimized by Black men. When Black women report the crimes, they’re attacked again by the Black community. This is a problem that must end.

Meghan’s mental health has been under assault since the shooting. She has lost friends and fans due to the incident. Meghan’s quest for justice was met with ridicule. Some rappers wrote lyrics making fun of her attack. Twitter and Instagram are full of trolls dissing Meghan. And I’m sure they’ve posted more insults since the verdict.

Black women deserve better. Meghan deserves better. When Black men of note commit acts of aggression towards Black women, those men need to face the consequences for their crimes. Lanez deserves whatever sentence he receives. He shot Meghan. She still has bullet fragments in her feet! I hope Lanez receives the maximum sentence. He needs the time to grow up and reflect on his actions.

Believe Black women. Listen to Black women. Black women deserve protection. Black men protect Black women. Black women’s lives matter.
