This Country Doesn’t Deserve Our Strength

Election 2024 will go down in this nation's history as the greatest mistake voters ever made. Black women will be remembered for being on the right side of history. While Black men did come out and support Kamala Harris, Black women far exceeded their voting numbers. We always turn up and turn out for Democratic candidates. We were there at the Zoom calls, phone banks, and rallies. We were there at community meetings, town halls, and stadiums. Black women were there in such numbers that Harris should have won.

But she didn’t.

Black women did so much, but it wasn’t enough. Harris didn’t get enough support across the country. This nation turned its back on Harris and all Black women. We didn’t have enough support from White men and women. We didn’t have enough support from Latino men and women. We didn’t have enough support, period.

Black women are tired. We are tired of doing all the work and reaping so little in return. Our tiredness is beyond skin deep — it is bone-deep; we are tired of men, Black, White, and Latino, not supporting change when change is needed. We said we were not going back. But the rest of America couldn’t move forward.

Black women need time to rest and recover. It is a must. Our minds and bodies feel the pain of Harris’s loss. We also feel…
