Black People Know How to Survive
We will still be here after Trump destroys America.
Daily, the media reports another Trump nominee for a powerful and vital government role. Matt Gaetz has been nominated for Attorney General. Elon Musk will be part of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has been named the incoming Health Secretary. These individuals and many others are not what the American people wanted to see in office—whether they voted for Trump or not.
But it doesn’t matter to Black people.
It doesn’t matter because we’ve always had to struggle and strive in a country that treats us like trash. Regardless of whether the administration is Democratic or Republican, Black people have had to find ways to survive bigotry and racism since the Emancipation Proclamation.
Even before President Lincoln “freed” the enslaved, our people were doing whatever they could to learn and grow. They shared that knowledge with others and used their creativity and ingenuity to free themselves from bondage. Our ancestors knew slavery was wrong from the moment they were kidnapped from Africa and brought to the shores of America.
From the moment the first African stepped foot on American soil, he had to figure out a way to survive in a hostile, new world. It was a world where Black people were…
