Work

Life.

No balance.

Life throws a lot at Black women. When VP Kamala Harris lost her bid for the presidency, many of us were devastated. Harris has a lot of support from Black women, but it still wasn’t enough to push her over the top. It didn’t help that a third of the country didn’t even go to the polls. When Trump was declared the winner, we Black women knew dark days were ahead.

And we weren’t wrong.

Since his inauguration on January 20th, Trump has sent his co-president, Elon Musk, on a dismantling spree. Musk has gone to the Treasury Department, the Veteran’s Administration, the Department of Education, the IRS, and countless other agencies, eliminating positions without rhyme or reason. Thousands have been fired from their positions without cause.

Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is supposed to cut government waste and shrink the federal government. However, many of the casualties of the cost-cutting have been Black men and women…
