Another gem of an essay! I agree! Also, writing about racism will save us. Think of it this way - if Black people hadn't shared and written their stories during the 1800s, those stories wouldn't have impacted writers during the Harlem Renaissance. And if those writers from the 1920s and 30s hadnt written their stories they would not have influenced writers and poets during the Civil Rights Era of the 1950s and 6os. And the Black writers of the past have continued to influence and impact writers since then til now. Writing about racism and our experience as Black people has saved us. It give us a literary legacy that cannot be destroyed and hasn't been destroyed despite racism.
