I don’t know how I missed this trend: fishtail skirts and mermaid dresses. I’ve seen them on television, in movies, and the red carpet, but I never got into the trend. Maybe it’s because fishtail skirts and mermaid dresses seemed more suited for women of a specific size. As a plus-size woman, I felt the trend was not trending for me.

But I was wrong. So wrong!

I was watching an Instagram video featuring one of my favorite thrifting creators, and in the video, she wore a fishtail skirt. Now, this creator is a full-bodied woman. She has booty, hips, and thighs. I wouldn’t call her plus-size, but she’s not a skinny minny (as my mother would say). And she wore that fishtail tail with style, grace, and sex appeal! So much so that I decided to venture into the fishtail skirt world.
